About Sharon

Sharon Winsmith is the Founder and CEO of Tax Planning HQ

Tax Planning HQ is focused on providing educational information to business owners to help them achieve financial freedom by paying less tax.

Sharon is a tax attorney and thought leader in the tax planning industry. She has worked on some of the most famous tax returns in history and is able to use out-of-the-box thinking to come up with creative tax planning strategies.

As a serial entrepreneur and owner of multiple businesses, Sharon is passionate about working with business owners and has a deep understanding of the day-to-day issues they face. Given her background as both a lawyer and tax advisor, she is uniquely situated to provide business owners with comprehensive wealth building advice.

She is also unbiased and has no financial incentive to recommend one strategy as opposed to others. Sharon can teach you about the strategies she uses that allow her to live in Manhattan and pay little to no tax each year.

She isn’t a CPA who is only focused on filing your return and getting through the April 15 tax deadline alive.
She is not a financial advisor motivated to tell you to keep all your investments in the stock market and bonds to increase advisor fees.
She is not an insurance agent trying to sell you a bunch of insurance you don’t need or that leaves you with large gaps of risky exposure.
She is not a 401k administrator trying to persuade you to open up a retirement plan so she can get administrative fees.
She isn’t an investment manager or syndicator trying to get you to invest in her fund.

The Boring Stuff

Prior to starting Tax Planning HQ, Sharon owned a tax consulting firm. She also worked for a number of years in the tax consulting group for the New York City office at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she was the tax advisor to several Fortune 100 companies.

She has also been the tax adviser to a number of billionaires and high net worth individuals, helping them implement tax planning strategies for their businesses and investments. Sharon has personally advised on over $45 billion in acquisitions throughout her career.

Sharon has a B.S. in Finance and Economics from the University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She also has a Master of Laws (LLM) in taxation from New York University.
